Redeemer Church Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important to us. Just as we work to honour and care for people in person, so we are also committed to treating the information provided to us with care.
Our privacy policy outlines how we collect, use, store and share personal information provided to us, in compliance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, and how you can access and change this information.
Purpose of Collecting Information
Redeemer Church West Christchurch Incorporated, is committed to communicating the good news of the Lord Jesus in the context of relationships. We want to see people come to trust in Christ, and be involved in the life of our church community. We collect and use the personal information provided to us to minster to people, to communicate about upcoming events or activities related to our church life, as well as for developing our ministry.
Collection of Information
We collect information (such as name, email, phone number etc) for the purposes outlined at the time of collection. Typically this is through Connect Cards, online forms used for church ministries (e.g. Connect form, roster update), RSVP responses to events such as church lunches, medical and registration forms and membership forms. We collect information on attendance and ministry team notes – for example relating to progressing a request.
Intended Recipients
The personal information collected by Redeemer Church is used for the purposes of our ministry and mission. This means your information is restricted to Redeemer church staff, ministry leaders, and church members involved in rosters and serving.
When we provide an updated Contact Directory to church members, we include only those who give consent for this, and provide a printed copy only to those listed within.
We will not disclose information about you for other purposes, without first obtaining your consent, other than where the use or disclosure is permitted by the law. We are required to provide high-level trend data to the Charities Commission. Such data is aggregated, and no personal information is provided, only statistics
at a church or group level.
Handling Information Securely
Safeguarding personal information is important to us, whether the interaction occurs personally, by phone, email, mail, or some other electronic means. We hold electronic personal information in a combination of secure computer storage facilities with encrypted backups. We take steps to protect personal information
against misuse, loss, unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.
Our online church database is ChurchSuite. This platform provides secure online access, to authorized users via secure login, with specific user level based access provided by the church administrator. A summary of ChurchSuite security mechanisms can be found on their website here.
Access to Personal Information
Redeemer Church endeavours to ensure personal information held is accurate and up to date. You may request access, changes and updates to the personal information held at any time by contacting Redeemer Church. From time to time we send a Consent request to members to re-confirm information being held.
Access to personal information is also available through invitation & subscription to ‘My ChurchSuite’. Communication preferences can also be updated via our Church News email by clicking the footer link ‘Manage Communication’.
